Mother Jenn joined St. John’s Episcopal Church as our long-term Assistant Priest in She was ordained in the Diocese of Albany in 2021 after completing her Master of Ministry at Nashotah House Theological Seminary. In addition to her ministry at St. John’s, she serves on the Commission on Ministry, helping to support and guide others in their spiritual callings. Mother Jenn is also a bi-vocational priest. During the week, she is Dr. Jennifer Dorsey,
Professor of History at Siena College and founding director of the McCormick Center for the Study of the American Revolution. She’s a published author and co-edited New York’s Burned-over District: A Documentary Edition (Cornell University Press, 2023) with Dr. Spencer W. McBride of The Joseph Smith Papers. Her teaching focuses on colonial and Revolutionary America, as well as New York State history. She and her husband George have called the Capital Region home since 2008. When they’re not at St. John’s, you might find them hiking or skiing, enjoying a concert by
Albany Pro Musica, or catching a show at Capital Rep or Proctors.
